"This is a great opportunity for everyone who enjoys cooking to learn from one of the best," says Paul Schneier, president of Pulte Homes' New York/New Jersey Metro Division. "But you don't have to be a chef to enjoy this.

If you like good food and a great time, this is something you don't want to miss," he said. "And River Pointe is the perfect venue for such an event. Come discover first-hand how this community offers a whole new way of life, not only with fun and out-of-the-ordinary events like this, but with outstanding home designs, fantastic amenities and unbelievable value."

While the event will take place in the spacious 2,668-square-foot Mayfield model home, visitors are welcome to tour the 1,979-square- foot Reston and the 1,957- square-foot Newhall models, as well. All three models are fully furnished and outfitted with Pulte's best Signature Standards features, including granite countertops, hardwood or tile floors and cabinets. Keeping fit will be easy with both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center. After a challenging workout residents can look forward to unwinding and relaxing in the indoor hot tub. This community hub also offers plenty of places to socialize with new neighbors and good friends. A lounge with two-sided fireplace and cafe will be perfect for impromptu get-togethers.

More formal occasions and larger gatherings such as movie nights, gala events and live entertainment programs will be held in the large meeting room that will also feature a caterer's kitchen. Attractively priced from $299,900, the homes at River Pointe perfectly complement the clubhouse. Floor plans feature up to 2,668 square feet of luxurious living space and each will include a two-car garage, two bedrooms and two baths. Home buyers can also choose from personalizing options such as a full basement, loft or morning room for sipping early morning coffee or relaxing with a book in the afternoon. ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — Sheila Brown made one mistake on April 29 — she ate lunch before leaving her home.

Brown and about 125 other people participated in the second annual Brunch on the Bayshore Kitchen Tour sponsored by the Henry Hudson Booster Club, a nonprofit organization at the Henry Hudson Regional School in Highlands.

"I thought there would be a cookie here, a cookie there," the Highlands resident said.

Visitors wound up with a lot more on their plates than just that. There were nine houses on the tour, four in Atlantic Highlands and five in Highlands, and 15 local restaurants, including a personal chef, a coffee shop, bakery and ice cream parlor scheduled for the day's event.

At each stop, participants were greeted by booster club volunteers and led into the homeowner's kitchen. The homeowners had the option to leave their home for the noon to 4 p.m. event. In most cases, the homeowners were not present.

While visiting the Jackson house on Prospect Circle in Atlantic Highlands, Brown met Ted Kanterman of Marlboro, a personal chef. Kanterman owns his own business, Ted Can Cook Too. He volunteered his time and the food for the event. He prepared a pecan-encrusted salmon with an Espiritu del Ecuador liqueur sauce and risotto as a side dish. The risotto had coconut milk and spices, including red curry, Kanterman said.

The homeowner, Mari Jackson, is a pastry chef. Although she was not present, she baked cookies and tarts for the event. She also had a tray of fresh fruit. The baked goods were on trays in the rooms leading to the kitchen as well as on the kitchen table.

Phyllis Peterson of Middletown also attended the event. Although she said she did not care for salmon, she was coaxed into sampling Kanterman's creation.

"Oh, Ted can cook," Peterson said after tasting the fish, adding, "Phyllis can't cook."

Sally Sanzone, the president of the booster club, said the club decided to have the event because of the success of last year's event, during which $5,000 was raised.

The club's fundraisers help augment programs at the school for the students and faculty. The money raised goes toward scholarships, school sports and teacher activities for the students.

Brown's next stop on the tour was the Minaidis house on East Highland Avenue in Atlantic Highlands. There, homeowner Colleen Minaidis was the chef du jour. She and her sister Diane McGirr of Barnegat own a catering service called The Happy Cookers. For the event, the women made pinwheel sandwiches, spinach and cheese tarts, crabmeat tarts, Swedish meatballs, and had endive leaves and cucumbers filled and topped with a shrimp and mango chutney. They also made desserts, such as carrot and cheese puffs and baklava.

Kevin Ilarraza of Atlantic Highlands said he and his wife, Karen, came on the tour to see the kitchens and to sample the food.

"We just remodeled our kitchen, but I wanted to see how other people designed their kitchens," he said. "Plus, I'm hungry, too."

The other homes on the tour were: in Atlantic Highlands, the Mazzini residence on Upper Prospect Avenue and the home of Steve Graziano and Rod Halbert on Ocean Boulevard, and in Highlands, the Cullen family, Portland Road; the Anthony family, Bay Street; the Kennedy residence on Grand Tour; the Mayers residence on Bay Avenue, and the Montecalvo home on Portland Road.

The event raised about $7,000, Sanzone said.

The state Department of Agriculture was instrumental in helping to sponsor the event, which features the best chefs from throughout the shore area preparing their most outstanding culinary delights for the more than 500 guests that attended. Chef Ted Helps Cook Up Some Funds For A Good Cause

We had a full house of 80 - 85 people at the Freehold First Aid Squad Building Banquet Hall this past Saturday, January 3rd. It was an evening of stand up comedy, a motivational speaker, a political speaker, great food and a lot of great music. An estimated $2000 plus has been raised for the Central Justice Alliance. The Central Justice Alliance will select 3 charities on where the money should go towards.

Chef Ted served up Salad Asiago, Vegetable Quinoa, Penne in Vodka Sauce a la Espirito, and Quinoa Cutlets.  And for dessert there were Mexican Brownies, Pecan Pie Muffins and fresh fruit.  A delicious all-vegetarian menu that really pleased the crowd!

The evening started off at 7:30PM when Comedian Al Caz hit the floor to do some stand up comedy. Al is a former writer for Jay Leno, David Letterman and other people in "show biz"...Al is currently the president of Alpha Centurai Entertainment.

Six great musical performances where done that night. Performances were done by The Terraplane Blues, Catherine Moon, Jessie Poland, Sister Isis, Spook Handy, and The New Patriots. From The Terraplane Blues peaceful tunes to Catherine Moon's politically moving music, to Jessie Poland's excellent cover of Jewel's "Hands", to Sister Isis amazing drums, to Spook Handy's moving piece on Voting, to The New Patriots closing out the night to a dancing crowd. It was amazing watching the drums at the end, the musicians going back and forth helping each other out and etc.

The night was stolen by speaker Paul Stuart Wichansky who was unanimously named as the highlight of the night. Paul told some amazing stories about courage, honor, and humanity. For more information on Paul or to book him to speak, please visit www.avisioninmotion.com

Also in attendance was Patrick J. Feheley. Feheley, a campaign speaker for Presidential Candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich, will be running for New York State Assembly in 2004.
